After more then 6 years of successfully offering process instrumentation solutions with non-intrusive flow measurement in the Asian region, Flexim Instruments Asia Pte Ltd was newly founded in Singapore in May 2006. A representative office followed in Shanghai in September. But while major companies relocate their production abroad, Flexim moved to Asia without changing the production line here!

The successful development of new markets depends on a permanent local presence. In May 2006 FLEXIM Instruments Asia was newly founded in Singapore. Singapore as a central location within Southeast Asia makes it possible to reach out quickly and easily to the entire Asian Pacific region. As a prefered vendor for global players it was obvious that we would move to the Asian Pacific region to keep up our service with the focus not only on sales but on after sales. Also in the course of international gas projects Flexim's relocation to Asia is the answer to better service in this field. Meanwhile we've set up partnerships in most Asian-Pacific countries to combine our knowledge with local expertise. The office in Singapore is focusing on supporting and servicing our distributership network with the help of our engineering team. Our service expertise is based on a comprehensive understanding of innovative flow ultrasound measuring systems as well as process analysis. Claus Weihermueller has been working for FLEXIM since 1999. His assignment in Asia as a managing director is a result to his competent knowledge of ultrasonic technology in the field of flow measurement, his strong sales support and organizational skills. Together with Ryan Tan, our regional sales and application manager, Flexim is able to do on-site support for all our distributors and costumers. Ryan, a mechanical engineer, has a long working experience in servicing technology & equipment to customers in Asia.

China with its great force on labor, increasing productivity, and mastery of modern technology, has become the factory of the world. Therefore a representative office was opened in Shanghai in September 2006. This presence in China secures our proximity to our clients by a committed and efficient local workforce. Managing Director Yi Liu, who worked for Panametrics for many years, sees a lot of potential in some of China's booming industries, such as the chemical, petrochemical, oil and gas industry. He aims to further raise FLEXIM's profile and product awareness. Yi Liu is backed up by Mr. Lichen Yu in the south and Mr. Zhenyu Luo in the north of China. Both engineers have been working in process instrumentation before. Mr. Lichen Yu previously spent the last five years with Panametrics and has also worked for Danfoss, E+H. Mr. Zhenyu Luo has 16 years' experience working for Anshan Water Group, and therefore he's promoting FLEXIM's flow meter in the water and wastewater industry. He said, "It's good to join a company with such massive potential. FLEXIM is innovative, ambitious and has made great inroads into ultrasonic technology in the field of flow measurement in the last 20 years."

But even if FLEXIM has been newly founded in Asia, our technology for this market is still made in Germany. Our manufacturing facilities can currently produce over 4,000 instruments a year and more than 70% of our products are exported to the international market. But since the research and development department is located at FLEXIM's head office in Berlin, the production line will stay in Germany. The company's policy of investing higher-than-average in R&D has lead Flexim to maintain the role of the technological leader. For technologies like ultrasonic flow measurement to realize their full potential, researchers, manufacturers and distributors need to work together, pooling resources to both develop the technologies and solve issues such as interoperability, standards and regulation.
