FLEXIM to supply flow meters for OFON Phase 2

FLEXIM has been awarded the order to supply the ultrasonic flow meter package of 32 units for the TOTAL ELF NIGERIA OFON Phase 2 project to Hyundai Heavy Industries Ulsan Korea.

Ofon field came on stream in December 1997. The additional reserves to be developed during this new phase of the project are estimated to be over 350 million barrels of oil equivalent. They should allow an increase of oil output by around 60,000 barrels per day to around 100,000 barrels per day by the end of 2010. The development will strengthen the offshore production of the Total Elf Group in Nigeria .

During the second phase of the Ofon project, gas flaring will be eliminated. Actually, Nigeria flares about 40% of the natural gas it produces because of a lack of utilization infrastructure. The Federal Government of Nigeria wishes to eliminate gas flaring completely by 2008. Instead of being flared, the gas will be processed to liquefied natural gas (LNG), enhancing Nigerian revenues and reducing carbon dioxide emission. The new development thus supports the NNPC/EPNL Joint Venture in meeting its commitment to supply the gas requirement for the Nigerian LNG project.

For TOTAL Nigeria Ofon Phase 2 project, FLEXIM is offering a combination of instruments for flow measurements on produced water and crude oil. The measuring systems are suitable for agressive offshore environment and explosion hazard areas.

FLUXUS® ADM 8127 flow meter enclosures manufactured out of SS316Ti and equipped with HART communication protocol are used for monitoring purpose on pipes of diameters between 6" to 40" and at temperatures up to 130°C.

Lastly the SS316L Permalok mounting system is protecting the transducers against extreme environment and mechanical impacts.
